Maruti’s 100% ‘Made In India Car’ By 2012

After ruling the Indian automobile market since their foundation, country’s largest car maker Maruti Suzuki is going to come-up with ‘completely made in India car’ on roads by 2012 and Maruti India is likely to finalize the design with in the next 6 months. You can say, this is truly ‘Made In India’ car from Maruti Suzuki. According to sources who are in the contact of the project for the car ‘Made In India’, the Maruti Suzuki will finalize the design, engine size and how to position it in the market within the next 6 months. The car is part of of the company’s strategy to develop and design future models in India.

“It is likely that the made in India car will be positioned along with Maruti Suzuki India’s best selling model Maruti Alto,” a source said. Internally MSI has set 2012 as the launch target, the source added. The Maruti Suzuki is spending around Rs 1,500 crore over the next 3 to 4 years at its R&D centre at Rohtak — Suzuki’s only such significant centre outside Japan — to scale up its vehicle development programme and become self reliant.
