Volkswagen Group hopes to sell 20000 units by the end of this year which would mark a 69 percent growth in its sales figures as compared to its last year’s figures. The robust sale of its current models has made VW to pre-pone its plans to roll out more models from its Chakan plant, near Pune in India.
Every car manufacturer in India has adjusted its production schedule according to the ongoing economic crisis. Nearly everyone is facing piling up of inventory at the factiories as well as at the dealer locations. On the other hand, VW has witnessed robust sales of its models like VW Jetta and Skoda Fabia. It also plans to launch its compact car and a sedan based on Polo platform in India. Volkswagen India Private Limited currently has 14 dealerships in India which it plans to hike up to 150 by 2011.

Volvo is planning to showcase its special edition car models in India during its yachting race competition. Volvo Car India is hosting one of the biggest yachting race competitions, Volvo Ocean Race, at the Cochin port this year. There are seven yachts participating this year that will arrive in Kochi and will remain there for 10 days.
Volvo Car India managing director Paul De Voijs said Volvo special edition cars reflect active lifestyle, adventure and passion in them that Volvo customers seek in their cars. Thus these cars will truly reflect similar values at the event. The special edition cars will be showcased during the show to lend glamour and glitter to the whole event.
Volvo Car India, a Division of Ford Motor Company, will showcase its three models Volvo V70 , Volvo XC70 and Volvo XC90 in ocean blue and electric colours. Volvo has sold nearly 100 cars in India since they were first launched in September last year. Volvo Car India had launched Volvo S80 and Volvo XC90 last year in India.

Audi has now started making the A4 sedan in India, at its plant in Aurangabad. This is the second Audi which is now being made in the country, the first being the bigger A6 model.
As with the A6 , the Audi A4 will be assembled from completely knocked down (CKD) kits imported from Germany. By 2015, Audi hopes to invest up to Rs 200 crore in India and build more than 10,000 A4 and A6 cars in the country.
‘India is one of the most important future growth markets for Audi Compared with last year, our vehicle sales in the first eight months of this year grew by over 190 percent, to some 700 units,’ says Peter Schwarzenbauer, member of the board of management for marketing and sales at Audi AG. ‘We are also making excellent process with our dealer network, which is currently being expanded to twelve locations,’ he adds.
‘The outstanding infrastructure at the plant, highly developed working processes, a large pool of skilled workers and favorable logistical conditions have resulted in Audi A4 CKD production starting two months ahead of schedule,’ says Frank Dreves, member of the board of management for production at Audi AG.
