Thursday, October 16th, 2008

Audi is on track to launch the Q5 SUV in the Indian market. The Audi Q5, which is smaller than the Q7 SUV that’s already on sale in the country, will be launched in January 2009, at a price of around Rs 45 lakh, ex-showroom.

Like the Q7, the five-seater Audi Q5 will be imported to India as a CBU and will compete against vehicles like the BMW X3, Mercedes-Benz M-class and Volvo XC60. Engine options likely to be offered in India include a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol and a 3.0-litre turbodiesel, with a seven-speed automatic gearbox that allows clutchless manual shifting.
