Maruti Cuts Down Production
Thursday, November 20th, 2008After Toyota, Mahindra and Tata Motors , now Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. has decided to cut down its production in India. India’s largest car manufacturer launched its most awaited model, Maruti A-Star in India on Wednesday. However, it expects a decrease in the demand of its cars in the next few months.
“We made some re-adjustments in production. There is a demand slowdown,” said Mayank Pareek, the company’s executive officer in charge of marketing. However, he declined to elaborate on the ‘adjustments’. The company produced 757,092 cars, vans and utility vehicles in the year ended March 31.
The auto industry has been facing difficult times in India since past few months. Rising job insecurities, high interest rates and escalating raw material prices have led to a historic slump in the demand. In India, nearly 85 percent cars are bought on credit where auto loans play a major role.

Maruti A-Star Launched!!
Wednesday, November 19th, 2008Maruti has launched the much awaited small car of the year - A-star . Like the swift petrol, A-star is also available in 3 variants - Lxi, Vxi and A-star Zxi. ZXi also comes with contemporary safety features such ABS with EBD and airbags.
Maruti Suzuki A-Star is a A-Segment car as per the European car standards. The car is produced from the company’s Manesar facility in Haryana.
Designed by Rajesh Kumar Gogu and Saurabh Singh of Maruti Suzuki India, A-Star, which is a five-door hatchback; has been engineered keeping in mind the trends and standards of the European market. Maruti Suzuki is planning to launch it on 19th November.
Confirmed: A-star to be launched in 3 variants
Saturday, November 15th, 2008It has been confirmed by Maruti official that like the swift petrol, a-star will also come in 3 variants - A-star LXi, A-star VXi and A-star ZXi .
ZXi being the top end will come with loads of features such as dual tone interiors, power steering,front electric windows, console box, tachometer,fabric seats and rear parcel shelf. A-star ZXi will also come with contemporary safety features such ABS with EBD and airbags. Three variants will be priced between Rs3.5 to Rs4.5 lakhs.
