Hyundai To Launch i10 Diesel Next Year

Hyundai will be launching the i10 diesel next year after they launch the i20. The 1120cc 3 cylinder engine is expected to have 75PS of power @ 4000RPM (not 6000RPM) and 155NM of torque from 2000RPM.

This will be the smallest CRDi engine and should have excellent fuel economy. It is expected tha i10 diesel will be priced Rs. 75000 more then the petrol i10.

Tata Nano to be launched in december

Tata Nano is likely to be rolled out around Ratan Tata’s birthday on December 28, just as the ‘Indica ‘ was launched a decade ago when he turned 61.

According to informed sources, Tata Motors is working on a plan to launch the ‘People’s Car’ , as Tata fondly refers to, to coincide with his birthday with about 10,000 units being readied to be rolled-out from the company’s facilities in Pune and Pantnagar . Vendor sources also said, already parts for about 12,000 units of Nano have been dispatched to Tata’s both Pune and Pantnagar facilities.

Hyundai today launched the much awaited LPG variant of its flagship product Santro. Santro Eco comes with actory-fitted LPG kit and boasts of features that meet global standards of performance and safety.Powered by the 1.1 litre, eRLX engine, Santro eco offers its customers a unique combination of reliable performance and unmatched fuel economy.

With separate petrol (35 litre) and LPG (27.2 litre) tanks, the customers have an option to choose from both LPG and petrol mode. The LPG tank in the Santro eco has a special ‘Toroidal’ design that allows intelligent use of space and makes larger luggage room available to the customer.

Tata Nano Diesel version roll out by September 2009

Now news is out that Tata Motors is also gearing to launch its diesel version of Nano by September’09. An industry source on condition of anonymity has said that the displacement of the diesel engine would be slightly higher than petrol. While the petrol engine has a 623 cubic capacity, the diesel engine could be around 690cc, as claimed by him.

The Tata Nano is a proposed city car - a small, affordable, rear-engined, four-passenger car aimed primarily at the Indian market - unveiled by the company at the 9th annual Auto Expo on January 10, 2008 at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi, India.

Bajaj redraws bike platform strategy

Bajaj Auto has drawn up a new, aggressive strategy for its motorcycles, which will involve a specific platform approach to generate big numbers. As part of this effort, it has also decided to launch a 125cc version of the Platina that will co-exist with its 100 cc sibling.

Managing director of Bajaj Auto, Rajiv Bajaj told DNA Money that three distinct platforms would form part of the plan. The top tier comprises the Discover , Pulsar and Avenger while the XCD represents the mid-platform. The 100cc range rolls out of the basic platform which includes the Platina as well as export models like the Boxer and CT 100.

Yo Bikes to launch 1000 W version of its electric bike

Buoyant by the demand of its 750 W electric bike ‘ YO Speed‘, Electrotherm India is planning to introduce a 1000 W version of the e-bike.

According to Avinash Bhandari, Director, Electrotherm India, they prefer to modify existing models. Their Research & Development team keeps updating technologies. The success of the 75 cc model has encouraged them to enter higher segments.

He also added that customers have accepted electric vehicle technology. Electrotherm has sold around 10,000 e-bike units in less than a year.

They have sold more than 50,000 units across the country in 2007. The company also plans to export these bikes. Initially, it will be to neighbouring countries like Nepal, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
