Ashok Leyland sales decline 60% in November

With the commercial vehicles market in India floundering in a big way, Ashok Leyland Ltd . has reported a 60.22% fall in its sales in November this year. The company sold 2,307 units in November this year, compared to 5,800 units in November 2007. ALL’s domestic sales during the month stood at only 1,788 units, a big decline over the 5,366 units sold in November last year.

The company’s total vehicle sales in the domestic market, including medium and heavy commercial vehicles, stood at 1,772 units against 5,323 units last November. LCV sales stood at 16 units in November this year, down from 43 units in the year-ago period. Exports was one bright area for Ashok Leyland – 519 units in November this year, compared to 434 units in November 2007, an increase of 19.58%.
